Free Fault Reporting App for the City of Cape Town and Durbanville, Northern Suburbs

No more sticky notes on your fridge! No more dragged-out phone calls to the City of Cape Town! Here’s why.

MyCapeTown is a cost- and ad-free app available to residents of the Western Cape. For more information, visit their Facebook page.

This app is a handy tool to improve services or report a problem in your neighbourhood. Your fault report is sent directly to the responsible department in Cape Town via the MyCapeTown app. You will also receive a reference number to search or follow up on your report.

THE PRIMARY GOAL OF SERVICE REQUESTS

The main objective for service requests is to ensure efficient service delivery throughout Cape Town. This app allows residents to log an issue, report a fault or submit a service request. By using the service request form provided by the City of Cape Town, users are assured that their reports or requests go to the appropriate department.

Residents can report the following on the app:

  • Leaking water pipes
  • No power or electricity/ unscheduled outages.
  • Blocked storm-water drains.
  • Uncollected refuse or waste.
  • Tree removal and cutting.
  • Illegal dumping.
  • Noise nuisances.
  • Graffiti and stolen or vandalised City property.
  • Unruly or inappropriate Behaviour.
  • Problem buildings.
  • Speeding and traffic offences.

HOW REPORTING WORKS

First, a user needs to identify the appropriate type of report (as listed above). They then need to describe the request as detailed as possible and provide any third-party comments or statements. They will also need to provide their contact details. The City may then need to contact them about the request, and users can follow up with their reference number.

These easy steps allow Cape Town residents to sufficiently report a fault to their municipality to improve services and maintenance. This fault-reporting app will always be available on a user’s phone.
